January sofa update

It doesn't fix anything to be frustrated and sad about our situation, but it's also very important to allow ourselves to feel what we need to feel about the situation we're in today. A third national lockdown is not how we wanted to start 2021, and for many of us who are struggling to feel secure,  it's a struggle to stay motivated - I'm very happy for the opportunities which have been offered to me over the past two months.

#OperaInLockdown

In advent, I was fortunate to have quite a few ongoing projects. I was pleased to be involved in Random Opera Company's #OperaInLockdown project, and their team made such a success of three digital performances under difficult circumstances: I was very glad to be involved in all three:

- Messiah (Handel)
- Il Nozze di Figaro (W.A. Mozart)
- A gala concert featuring professional and student singers from around the world
Although many of us miss performing on stage, it was great to be given a sense of purpose and an end goal to aim towards - the creation of some brilliant performances. Take a look at Random Opera's Youtube Channel and support them if you can!

Even More Messiah

As I came late to the singing scene, I've had very few opportunities to perform this work, which many consider to be a central part of their winter programmes. So I was very excited indeed for the chance to perform as tenor soloist for the first half of Messiah at St Mark's Church, Hamilton Terrace.

St Mark's supports me as a choral scholar, and also supports a very dedicated and talented music department and choir. With visiting orchestral players playing period instruments, We managed to perform live just after the November lockdown.

High-quality recordings were made of this performance, and I will share them on my website when they have been made available!

Puzzle Piece Opera

It was a pleasure to help organise and promote, as well as to sing in, the very successful Puzzle Piece Opera Gala concert last term. I'm looking forward to being involved in more more projects this term, including coordinating New Works Project and also performing in the spring production of The Marriage of Figaro (W.A. Mozart) In English.
